Rev. Msgr. Martin R. Strempeck

January 2, 1929 — February 8, 2011

On February 8, 2011, Rev. Msgr. Martin R. Strempeck, cherished Son of the late Rose L. Sobcszak and the late Martin M. Strempeck, passed to Eternal Life. He was the beloved brother of Earle R. Strempeck and the Uncle of the late Martin M. Strempeck. Ordained in 1955, he served 9 years at St. Stephens in Bradshaw, Associate of St. Andrews Parish for 16 years while serving 17 years as Chaplain at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and 9 years at both St. John the Evangelist in Long Green and St. Philip and James Church in Baltimore. He was made a Prelate of Honor with the title of Monsignor on May 15, 1997. After retiring, he lived at St. Margaret's in Bel Air.

He is survived by Patricia A. Strempeck (sister-in-law) and his devoted nieces, Kathy Kleiderlein and Karen Berkeridge and her husband, John J. Berkeridge Sr.; his loving nephew, Thomas E. Strempeck. His great-nephews, John J. Berkeridge Jr. and his wife, Kelly Berkeridge, Shawn M. Berkeridge and Stephen Berkeridge. His great-great-nieces and nephews, Olivia Berkeridge, Lillian Berkeridge, and Dylan Berkeridge.

Services will be at St. Margaret Church, 141 N. Hickory Ave., Bel Air, MD 21014.

Reception of the body at St. Margaret Church will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2011, with viewing from 4-7 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

Monday morning, February 14, 2011, a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. The Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop O'Brien, Archbishop of Baltimore.

Funeral Luncheon will be at St. Mary Magdalen, 1716 Churchville Rd., Bel Air, MD 21015 at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist Hydes, 13305 Long Green Pike, Hydes, MD 21082 at 3:30 p.m.

Family have asked that in lieu of flowers or Mass Cards, that donations may be made to Senator Bob Hooper House (Residential Hospice), c/o 520 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Bel Air, MD 21014, in memory of Msgr. Martin R. Strempeck or to the Tuition Assistance Program, c/o St. Margaret Catholic Church, 141 N. Hickory Ave., Bel Air, MD 21014.
