Rev. Jack Wood, was born on 31 December 1934 in Bel Air, Maryland. He went home to be with the Lord at the age of 82. He was born to Hurdle T. Wood and Thelma L. (Smith) Grogan. He attended the original Bel Air High School that was built in 1949 and was in the graduating class of 1953. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Korean War. Jack did not know a stranger. He loved to laugh and shared the gospel freely. He enjoyed the first Wednesday of each month as his high school classmates gathered for breakfast at Bob Evans in Bel Air. He enjoyed teaching his sons the trade of carpentry. He also enjoyed fishing and taking walks on or just sitting at the beach mesmerized by God's beautiful creation with his wife and friends.
Rev. Wood is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Lee (Nelson) Wood; son, James Thomas Wood of Jessup; brother, Rev. Hershel Thomas Wood of Rossville, GA; four nieces and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest son, Joseph Clay Wood, niece, Kimberly Ann (Wood) Simcox, and his sister, Margaret Lee (Wood) White.
