Reuben Swords, age 82, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away on September 8, 2014 at his home. Born in Florin, PA, he was the son of the late Reuben Strayer Swords Sr. and Clara Viola Swords. A veteran of the U.S. Army, served our country during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #128 in Aberdeen and, for over 50 years, a member of VFW Post #5337 in Abingdon. He worked as a carpenter at Aberdeen Proving Ground, liked to make things and enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Mr. Swords is survived by his wife, Mary E. Swords; son, George Thomas Starnes of White Marsh; grandchildren, Duane T. Starnes and Tina Houton; great-grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Amber, Leonard and Justin; and nieces, Linda Ray, Mary Jane Stout, Diane Kline and Karen.
