Rembert "Pop" C. Moats, age 81, of Joppa, MD, died on May 1, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in McDowell, VA, he was the son of the late Floyd and Mattie Emma Simmons Moats. A lifetime member of Grace Baptist Church in Joppa, MD, he was the owner and operator of Moats Home Improvements. He worked on lawnmowers and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Moats is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia Arbogast Moats of Joppa, MD; sons, James Moats of Jarrettsville, MD and Glen "Bud" D. Moats of Kingsville, MD; daughters, Shirl Boltz of Havre de Grace, MD, Bonnie Gayle Burkins of Aberdeen, MD, Peggy M. Johnson of Edgewood, MD and Lucille Smith of Joppa, MD; sister, Mabel Hatcher of McDowell, VA; and eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Larry Moats.
Pallbearers were James Moats, Glen D. Moats, Ray Burkins, Joseph C. Burkins Sr., Joseph C. Burkins Jr. and A. Henry Johnson.
