Raymond M. Knight, age 81, of Darlington, MD, died on August 13, 2011 at his home. Born in Street, MD, he was the youngest child of the late George Main Knight Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Morris. A 1947 graduate of Dublin High School, he was educated at the one room school house next to Trappe Church. He was the owner and operator of Oak Hill Farm, from which he retired after 57 years, and was a member of the Future Farmers of America, Maryland Farm Bureau, hosted several Harford County Farm Visitation Days, and won several conservation awards. A past member, and deacon, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, he enjoyed singing hymns and being a part of the Living Christmas Tree. He was a current member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, was an active participant of Promise Keepers, and attended Room at the Cross Mission Church in Havre de Grace where he was also a deacon.
Mr. Knight is survived by his wife of 34 years, June L. Bawden Knight of Darlington, MD; daughter, Barbara J. Szymanski and husband, Richard J., of Street, MD; brother, William J. Knight Sr. of Street, MD; and sister, Ruth K. Scarborough of Bel Air, MD. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Janet Davis Knight; brother, George M. Knight Jr.; and sisters, Ella Durham, Susan McElwain, Hazel Koenig, Maye Mann, and Bertha Wagoner.
Pallbearers will be Jim Durham, Eddie Koenig, Richard Szymanski, Blaine Watson, Shane Watson, and Roy Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Missionary Work, 1643 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015 or Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000.
