Ray L. Shetterly Sr.

Ray L. Shetterly Sr., age 85, of Aberdeen, MD passed away on November 15, 2018 at his home. Born in Caryville, TN, a son of the late Ulysses and Dora (Johnson) Shetterly and loving husband of N. Faye Shetterly for 61 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two devoted sons, Ray L. Shetterly Jr., and his wife Lorna and Kevin R. Shetterly and his wife Judi; grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Julie, Amanda, Chad, Aaron, and Rachel Shetterly; and brother, Paul Shetterly from Rocky Top, TN.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred, Helen and James Shetterly and Anna Faye Booth.

Ray moved to Baltimore in the late 1950s for work. He retired from General Motors with over 34 years of service. Throughout his life Ray was active and always enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He coached and umpired baseball for many years and was even Commissioner of Middle River Baseball during the mid-1970s. Ray enjoyed a long happy retirement where he shined as a devoted father and grandfather and strong supporter of countless sporting events, home projects and family activities. He also enjoyed watching TV especially sports like the Ravens and Orioles. Ray believed and raised his kids in the Baptist faith. For the past 10 years, he has been faithful at Mountain Christian Church rarely missing an early Sunday morning service.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview as a thank you for their passionate dedication providing Ray a thorough and holistic treatment program promoting and sustaining a high quality of life during his three year battle with multiple cancers.
