Ray J. Lowman, born September 8, 1928 in Marion, Virginia and a resident of Harford County, Maryland for 67 years, passed away at home, peacefully, on April 16, 2021 at the age of 92. Ray served in the U. S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a long-time well-known beekeeper in Harford County and a member of the Susquehanna Beekeeper's Association. He was known locally as "The Honey Man" and sold his honey at the Bel Air Farmer's Market from its inception until the early 2000's. He was a delivery driver for the Corbin Fuel Company in Bel Air, Maryland for approximately 20 years until his retirement in 1993.
He was married to the late Phyllis Ann (Powell) Lowman for 57 years until her passing in September 2009. Ray was also predeceased by his mother, Bulah Kirk, of Marion, Virginia and numerous half brothers and sisters over the past 50 years. He is survived by his only daughter and son, Diana (Deanie) Lowman-Nehila and Michael R. Lowman, both of Bel Air, Maryland, as well as his son-in-law, William T. Nehila, Jr. and grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Nehila; great-grandchildren, Kendal, Sophia, and Brody Nehila; a half sister, Pauline Pickle of Marion, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Rose Powell Gillespie, also of Marion, Virginia.
A Graveside Service was held at Bel Air Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
