Ralph Linwood Jewell

Ralph Linwood Jewell, age 84, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on January 21, 2014 at his home. Born in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late William Keller Jewell and Lillian Mae Smeltzer Jewell. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War. He grew up in Luray, Virginia were he worked in his father's lumber mill and eventually in construction as a carpenter. He was devoted to his family and his cats. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, camping and photography.

Mr. Jewell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Marie Blackburn Jewell; son, Kenneth R. Jewell and his wife Robin of Lebanon, PA; daughters, Wanda M. Hostetter of Bel Air, Freda J. Jewell and her husband "Chip" of Orange City, FL, Melinda S. Knight and her husband Steve of Whiteford and Brenda L. Jewell and her husband George of Lothian, MD and grandchildren, Cheyenne L. Scarborough of Ormond Beach, FL, Karri L. Lewis of Crofton, Hannah L. Jewell of Abingdon, Nicholas D. Lewis of Crofton and Stevie L. Knight of Whiteford, and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Saundra and Connor.
