R. Kent Wilson

R. KENT WILSON, age 90, of Forest Hill, MD, died at Hart Heritage Estate in Street, MD on March 12, 2003. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles Humphrey and Grace Lawrence Wilson, and the husband for 65 years of the late Louise Mahan Wilson. A resident of Forest Hill, Harford County all his life, he was a deputy clerk at the Circuit Court in Bel Air prior to seeking employment at Forest Hill State Bank. In March 1940, he started as an assistant cashier and through the years advanced to Executive Vice President and retired as President of the bank. Mr. Wilson’s father was one of the founders of Forest Hill State Bank, which had a great influence on him following in his father’s path. He enjoyed gardening with his wife, playing cards with their friends and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He was a life-long member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. With his wife, he participated with the reopening of the historic church and was instrumental with organizing the finances of the church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Mr. Wilson is survived by one son, Lawrence H. Wilson and his wife, Carolyn M. Wilson of Forest Hill, MD; one brother, Charles A. Wilson of Bel Air; two grandchildren, Martin K. Wilson of Forest Hill; Kelly W. Rote of Forest Hill; two great-grandchildren, Isabella M. Wilson of Forest Hill; and Drew K. Wilson of Forest Hill. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Robert C. Wilson; and one sister, Melissa (Peg) L. Wilson.

Pallbearers were: Robert R. Wilson, Christopher L. Wilson, Charles D. Wilson, Robert Jendrek, Wilson Bailey and Michael Witkowski.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 533 E. Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill, Maryland 21050, to benefit a fund established for the eventual refurbishment of the Historic Church.
