Preston Earl Hill, Sr.

PRESTON EARL HILL, SR., age 89, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 1, 2006 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Thomas Run, MD, he was the son of the late Augustus and Laura Virginia Wilson Hill. A life-long resident of Harford County, he worked for the US Government at the Aberdeen Proving Ground as a welder for over 40 years. Known as “Pert” by his family, he was the husband of the late Sarah E. Akins Hill for 47 years. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He was a member of American Legion Post 55 in Bel Air, MD and of Hosanna A.M.E. Church. He also enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Hill is survived by one son, Preston E. Hill, Jr., and daughter-in-law Judith S. Hill, of Bel Air, MD; one daughter, Nancy Hill of Bel Air, MD; four grandchildren, Michelle E. Hill of Bel Air, MD, Kathy M. Hill of Aberdeen, MD, Don L. Hill, and his wife Melinda L. Hill, of Woodlawn, MD and Preston E. Hill III of Bel Air, MD; two great-grandchildren, Courtney A. Hill of Aberdeen, MD and Keisha N. Hill of Woodlawn, MD; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, William C. Hill, Charles Hill and Robert Hill; and two sisters, Helen E. Rice and Catherine G. Gibson.
