Pope Markopoulos Platis

Pope Markopoulos Platis, age 83, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on November 22, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Irene Niamonitakis Markopoulos. Over the years she had owned and managed restaurants which included Tony's Marine Lounge and Ryder's On the Bay both located on Lake Erie, as well as, Briarwood Inn in Bel Air. She loved to cook and feed people, liked to play bingo and did a lot of reading. She was also a member of the American Business Women.

Mrs. Platis is survived by her husband, Alexander A. Platis; son, Mitchell A. Platis of Parkville; daughters, Maria P. Conway of Bel Air and Rena Beckhorn of Abingdon; brother, Nick Markopoulos of Palm Harbor, FL; and grandchild, Alexa Conway.
