Phyllis Rachel Bonney

Phyllis Rachel Bonney, age 93, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on October 7, 2014 at Brightview Assisted Living in Bel Air. Born in Denver, CO, she is the daughter of the late Herschel Osephus and Martha Jane Lowe Pumphrey and wife of the late Lyle Douglas Bonney. She raised her family in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Greenbelt, Maryland and Forsyth, Missouri following her husband's career with NASA. She moved back to Maryland to live with her family after the death of her husband. She loved to dance and enjoyed being with friends. She was a member of Bel Air United Methodist Church where she was known as the ultimate greeter and official hugger. She served the community at Manna House on Wednesdays.

Mrs. Bonney is survived by her sons, Doug Bonney and wife, Pat, of Abingdon, Gary Bonney and wife, Jackie, of Rockville and Donald Bonney and wife, Judith, of Winston Salem, NC; daughter, Linda Bonney Howard and husband, Glenn, of Frederick; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
