PHYLLIS FLYNN, age 75, of Abingdon died at her home overlooking Bush River on April 10, 2003. Born on January 19, 1928 in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Laban Everett and Eula Gertrude Cantrell Cooley. She enthusiastically pursued her hobbies of reading, flower gardening, needlework, and crossword puzzles; but most of all she enjoyed hosting and cooking for many family gatherings. She retired in 1996, after 35 years with Carey Machinery & Supply Co.
Mrs. Flynn is survived by her husband, John T. “Jack” Flynn, Jr.; two daughters, Patricia Ann Phillips and her husband Troy of Baltimore; Catherine Jane Wegner and her husband Rick of Abingdon; two sons, Michael Patrick Flynn of Essex; John Frederick Flynn of Dundalk; one brother, David Lee Cooley and his wife, Audrey of Rodgers Forge; one sister, Sally M. Yingling and her husband, Roy Martin of Joppatowne; mother-in-law, Violet M. Flynn of Abingdon; and her 101-year old aunt, Thelma Skeeter, of Medford, Oregon; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
