PHILLIP GEORGE DARDEN, age 55, of Edgewood, died on December 6, 2005 at his home after an illness of over 20 years. Born on August 2, 1950 in Courtland, VA, he was the son of the late Bernard George Darden and Cora Bell Claude Darden. He graduated in 1970 from Riverview High School in Virginia and moved to Maryland in 1972 when he became employed by Baltimore Biological Laboratories. He later worked as a forklift operator with Michael’s Warehouse, and as a manager for Hi-Gear. Other positions he held were with Western Auto, Denny’s and Giovanni’s Restaurants in Edgewood. His family reported that he was a very wise, generous and kind-hearted man who was strong and hardworking. Most of all, he supported and loved his family, always making sure that he took care of those he loved to the best of his ability.
Mr. Darden is survived by his wife, Romaine Anastastia Shaw Darden, whom he met at Baltimore Biological Laboratories and whom he married on April 18, 1975; four daughters, Rosanna D. Darden of Edgewood, Janetta D. Rollins, and her husband Craig of Belcamp, Serena N. Darden of Edgewood and Latrice N. Darden of Edgewood; two brothers, Dennis L. Darden, and Ronald E. Darden, both of Boykins, VA; three sisters, Gwendolyn D. Gray of Boykins, VA, Claudette Hatchett of Petersburg, VA, and Susette McGee of Boykins, VA; and five grandchildren, Craig C. Rollins III, and Jamahd P. Rollins, both of Belcamp, Tyree M. Darden, and Mazik K. Darden, both of Edgewood, and Monique R. Rollins of Belcamp.
