PHILIP WALTER POTTER JR., age 88, of Bel Air, MD, died on February 29, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was one of five children of the late Philip Walter Potter Sr. and the late Augusta Walter Potter. He was a WWII Army veteran serving during the European Campaign and was a Purple Heart recipient. A Harford County resident for 20 years, he was a past member of the Winters Run Golf and Country Club and enjoyed bowling.
Mr. Potter is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marie Teresa Lang Potter of Bel Air, MD; three sons, Philip J. Potter and his wife, Karen Brubaker, of Fairlawn, OH, Michael W. Potter and his wife, Lorraine A., of Forest Hill, MD, and William A. Potter and his wife, Hank, of Jarrettsville, MD; a daughter, Janet T. Lathe and her husband, Paul Lathe Jr., of Lochearn, MD; two brothers, George William Potter and Vernon Potter, both of Florida; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Isabelle Beach and Virginia Irving.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, 109 S. Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014.
