PETE JAMES LADAS, age 74, of Colora, MD, formerly of Bel Air, MD, died at his residence on August 19, 2003. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on December 15, 1928, he was the son of the late James Pete and Athena Argentos Ladas. He graduated from Tulsa University and Oklahoma State University and taught in the public school system for 52 years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Harford County, Cecil County and Baltimore County. He was a board member of the church council for many years both in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and in Baltimore, MD at the Annunciation Cathedral. Mr. Ladas was most recently a member of Holy Trinity Church of Wilmington, DE. He was a member of the Masons, York Rite in Tulsa, Oklahoma and for many years a member of the Lions Club. He founded the AAAA Driving School in Maryland in 1979. He served his country in the Army Reserves during peacetime.
Mr. Ladas is survived by his wife of 48 years, whom he married in 1955, Fern Irene Pappas Ladas; two sons, James Pete Ladas of Colora, Maryland; Michael Pete Ladas of Colora, Maryland; two daughters, Athena “Tina” Ladas of Port Deposit, Maryland; Irene Ladas Bogia of Wilmington, Delaware; and nine grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Constantine “Deno” Ladas.
