PENELOPE JOAN McCOURTNEY, age 52, of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, Maryland on April 6, 2004. Born in England, she was the daughter of Jean Sylvia Rostgard Brenton of Auckland, New Zealand and the late Ivan Bernard Brenton. She was a spiritualist most of her life. An artistic and artistic-loving, free-spirit, she was vibrant and generous. She was a spiritual healer who charmed everyone she met with her kindness and color.
Mrs. McCourtney is survived by two daughters, Crete Sallyann Overholtzer and her husband, Gordie Overholtzer of New Oxford, Pennsylvania; Rebecca Marylou McCourtney of Edison, New Jersey; two brothers, Anthony Brenton of Cambridge, England; Nicholas Brenton of Cambridge, England; two grandchildren, Kaya Overholtzer and Cali Overholtzer, both of New Oxford, Pennsylvania; and her wonderful dog, Lucky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local ASPCA.
Local arrangements were under the direction of McComas Funeral Home, P.A. Abingdon, Maryland.
