October 4, 1920 — December 22, 2005

MARGARET IRENE PATRICK (PEGGY), of Darlington died December 22, 2005 of complications from a stroke she suffered in October 2004. She had fought and survived her battle with cancer for more than thirty years. Her life was exemplified by her strong determination and faith in God to overcome whatever obstacles she faced in life. She was 85.

Born in Rugby, Grayson County, Virginia on October 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Minnie Barnes Testerman. She was the wife of Homer Patrick and they celebrated 68 years of marriage on September 2, 2005.

Peggy worked for Glenn L. Martin and continued her career with the government at both Aberdeen and Edgewood Arsenal. She received numerous awards spanning those 45 years for excellence and proficiency. She maintained many close friendships after her retirement.

During the couple’s 68 years together, they traveled throughout the states and overseas visiting some of the countries her husband had been stationed in during the war. Although they did not have children, they were active in the lives of their nieces and nephews. She gave wise counsel to her family and encouraged many of them throughout their struggles. She left a wonderful legacy.
