Paul W. Slade

Paul W. Slade, age 89, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on June 11, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.  Paul was a lifelong resident of Harford County, son of the late Edward L. Slade and Katie (Amrein) Slade. 

He attended Saint Margarets School and Bel Air High School, where he met the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Myrtle (Watson) Slade. 

Paul was a proud but humble, self-made entrepreneur demonstrating a strong work ethic.  He founded his own underground utility company in 1971, aptly named Paul’s Utility Co., Inc., highly successful for 36 years. He was also involved in commercial and residential land development.

Paul was a fun-loving jokester and enjoyed amusing others, particularly his grandchildren, the joys of his life. He was a longtime member of Maryland Golf & Country Club where he enjoyed playing men’s tennis league and golf.  He enjoyed outings on his boat at their secondary residence in Ocean City, Maryland, where he was a life member of The Elks Lodge.

In addition to his loving wife, Paul is survived by his son, Paul E. Slade (Sally) of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Carolyn L. Guesman (Dan) of Boulder, CO; son, Stephen D. Slade of Baltimore, MD; granddaughters, Ashley (Guesman) Iversen and Victoria L. Guesman; grandson, George E. Slade; sister, Mary (Slade) Boggs; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers; Arthur, Vincent and Albert; sister, Katherine (Slade) Alter.
