Paul R. Neeper

Paul R. Neeper, Jr., age 79, of Bel Air, died on September 22, 2010 at GilchrIst Hospice. He was the husband of Edie (Patzig) Neeper for over 54 years. He has two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael Neeper and Kathryn Hofmann of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and Lawrence and Donna Neeper of Stillwater, Oklahoma. In addition, he has two grandchildren, Ellen Neeper and Davis Neeper of Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law: Roy and Carole Neeper of Fountain Green, and Dale and Laurie Neeper of Emmorton, and Millie Neeper of Parkville. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Neeper of Parkville. Mr. Neeper also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Neeper was born in Bel Air in 1931, and lived in Fountain Green Heights for over 51 years. He was the son of the late Russell and Alice (Jones) Neeper of Bel Air. Paul graduated from Bel Air High School in 1948 and attended the College of Commerce in Baltimore. After serving in the U.S. Army he continued his studies and became a CPA in 1958.

He began his own accounting firm in January 1958, and included in his clients the Harford County Government. He served as County Auditor from 1974 to 1991. During that time he uncovered embezzlement and suggested to the County Council many cost saving and security practices. His company served many successful private businesses in Harford County and the state. After many years of practice, he merged his business with Coughlin and Mann.

In his retired years he became an avid golfer, playing several times a week. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends and being near his devoted family. Paul was a member of the Maryland Golf and Country Club and had served as Treasurer at different times, and was a past member of the Rotary Club. He was also a member of Christ Our King Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Deacon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 572, Bel Air, MD 21014.
