Paul August Hahnel

Paul August Hahnel, age 98, of Churchville, Maryland, formerly of West Seneca and Buffalo, NY, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on June 8, 2023. Son of the late Paul and Emma (Machholz) Hahnel, beloved husband of the late Adele (Sikkema) Hahnel, and devoted father of JoAnn (Henry) Costello, Janice (Charles) Lakso, Gary (Cheryl) Wailand, and Kay (Francis) Murphy.  He was the cherished grandfather of Sarah (Matthew) Hawver, Phillip Murphy, Steven (Samantha) Murphy, Christopher Wailand, Paul Wailand, Meghan (William) Travis and a beloved “Opa” of great-grandchildren, Adele, Marcus, Olivia, Andrew, Harper, Quinn, and Willow.

He was a proud mason with Western Star Lodge in Buffalo New York for 65 years and a loving father for a lifetime.     

The family will be hosting a Memorial Service at 11:00am on July 14, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 174 Cazenovia St., Buffalo, NY.
