Patrick Michael McCracken, age 81, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Patrick was the son of the late William and Paulina (Voegeline) McCracken. He was the beloved husband of Donna McCracken, with whom he shared many joyful years of love, laughter, and adventure.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Patrick carried the values of honor, integrity, and service with him throughout his life. He was a devoted member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Bel Air, where he was deeply involved in the men’s groups and community outreach. Patrick worked in banking and then for the State of Maryland, playing a leading role investigating financial institutions and fraud during the savings and loan crisis in the state in the 1980s. He later worked in Harford County government, leading substance abuse programs.
Patrick had a lifelong passion for photography, film, and storytelling. He loved movies and had a creative eye behind the lens. He was a talented cook and baker—especially known for making an unforgettable pizza—and cherished the time spent in the kitchen sharing meals with family and friends.
Above all, Patrick was an exceptional father to his five sons and a proud grandfather to four granddaughters. He delighted in every moment with his family and inspired them with his wisdom, humor, and warmth.
A passionate traveler, Patrick came close to achieving his dream of visiting every National Park in the United States, always seeking out beauty, adventure, and the open road.
