Patricia Arena (Moats) (Plunkett) Furlong, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away on May 18, 2009 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow B. and Julia F. (Fiorentino) Moats.
Mrs. Furlong is survived by two daughters; Steffanie Arena (Plunkett) Frey and partner, Victor Woodell, and Judith E. (Plunkett) Winters and husband, Robert; and a son, Baron P.D. Plunkett and wife, Janet. Also survived by four grandchildren; Seth A. Plunkett, Cassandra J. (Plunkett) Gibson, Shayla A. Frey and Bradley A. Plunkett and three great grandchildren; Hannah Plunkett, Alexandria Cupp and Wyatt Gibson. Also survived by first husband G. Bradley Plunkett Sr. and her companion Joseph Caro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son G. Bradley Plunkett Jr. and husband Charles Furlong.
Graduating from Bel Air High School in 1951, Pat was a great sportswoman who excelled in basketball, field hockey and volleyball. Pat's popularity with classmates combined with her good looks and style earned her the Homecoming Queen title in her senior year. She was a fine equestrian who had to convince her mother to allow her to own a horse. As an adult, she was active with the Maryland Pony Show and fox hunted after moving to Pennsylvania. Her love of horses was handed down to her oldest daughter Steffanie. Pat loved music and could occasionally be found at the piano, playing an old favorite song or learning a new one. Her love of the outdoors was evident by the flower beds that always surrounded her home. A homemaker for years and self employed for
awhile, Pat always found the time to entertain and cook for large family gatherings.
Please make memorial contributions to Stella Maris, 2300 Dulaney Valley Rd. Lutherville/Timonium, MD 21093 in gratitude for their fine care.
