Ollie Mack Head

July 22, 1925 — May 22, 2003

O.M. “AMTRAK OLLIE” HEAD, 77, of Edgewood, MD, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD on May 22, 2003. Born in Forsyth, Georgia, he was the son of the late Homer and Janie Mitchell Head. A Harford County resident for 60 years, he served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Campaign. He retired from Amtrak in August 1987 where he worked as a supervisor. During his 47 years, which he began as a trackman, he saw the railroad change names 4 times. He enjoyed farming and at one time was a Mason.

Mr. Head is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marguerite Harriet Bishop Head; five sons, Maurice L. Bishop, Sr. of Fallston; William L. Head, Sr. of Edgewood; Roger A. Head of Chase; Thomas A. Head of Edgewood; Robert T. Head of Edgewood; one daughter, Cheryl A. Walker of Edgewood; one brother, Wilson Head of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
