Olen David Shaffer

Olen Shaffer, age 93, of Churchville, Maryland passed away on January 28, 2022 at home. Born in Grayson County, Virginia, he was the son of Frank and Ina Shaffer and husband of Juanita Shaffer. 

He was married for 73 years on December 20, 2021.  He was self-employed running Churchville Produce, doing underground construction and tunneling and Woodside Wood & Tree Service.  He enjoyed fishing & hunting, vegetable & flower gardening, spending time with family and friends playing board games & card games.  

Olen is survived by his wife Juanita Shaffer; daughters, Bethany Shaffer, Glenda Weaver, Joyce (Barry) Frey; sons, David Shaffer, John Shaffer, Bobby Shaffer, James Shaffer; grandchildren, Tina Mellinger, Heather Frey Martin, Asa Coulson, Morgan (Michael) Waid, Gunnar Shuler; great-grandchildren, Emily Mellinger, Hunter Mellinger, Brody Mellinger, Hayden Martin, Gavin Martin; brother, Sam (Carol) Shaffer; two sisters, Lorraine Barnes, Shirley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Carter and Evelyn Richardson.
