Oanh Van Tran, age 84, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away on July 6, 2024, at Accent Care @ Franklin Square in Rosedale, Maryland.
Born in Kim Bao, Hai Duong, Vietnam, he was the son of Phong Van Tran and Boi Thi Ngo. Oanh served as a Captain in the military for South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. In his 60s, he pursued and earned his computer science degree in the United States, showcasing his unwavering determination and passion for learning.
Oanh had a strong, fighting spirit throughout his life. He loved listening to the news from around the world and enjoyed audiobooks. He kept up with technology and began writing his memoirs on the computer, although his disabilities prevented him from completing them.
Oanh is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Thien Bui; two daughters, Lynn Vuong and Line Tran; two sons, Tu Thanh Tran and Tung Thanh Tran; his four grandsons, Vincent Vuong, Dan Vuong, Michel Cao and Joseph Cao; and four granddaughters Emma Tran, Lena Tran, Emy Tran and Linda Cao.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
