Oakie Marie Kennedy

Oakie Marie Kennedy, age 82, of Bel Air, MD, died on February 24, 2010 at her home. Born in Sparta, NC, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Lola Mae Anderson Halsey. A resident of Harford County for most of her life, she had worked at Bata Shoe Company where she was an assembler and at Whiteford, Reeves, and Snyder Canning Houses where they canned vegetables. She enjoyed bingo and loved to cook for family and friends.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert C. Kennedy of Bel Air, MD; sons, Robert Parsons of FL and Don Parsons of VA; daughter, Patricia Ellis of Darlington, MD; brothers, Cecil Halsey, Thomas James Halsey and Samuel B. Halsey, all of NC; and sisters, Beautrice Bell and Sandra Sue Wagner, both of NC; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughters, Wilma Fae Parsons and Barbara Jean Wilson; brothers, William Bradley Halsey and Jim Halsey; and sister, Nell Ruth Thompson.
