NORRELL “LANTZ” EUGENE LANTZER, age 55, of Aberdeen, MD, died on January 14, 2008 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Akron, CO, he was the son of the late Samuel Stanley and Bertha May McMullen Lantzer. He retired from the U.S. Army where he served as a Ranger and a Special Weapons Officer. He was responsible for the safety, security and eventual disposal of special weapons deployed in Western Europe during the end of the Cold War. He provided policy-level guidance on the equipping of coalition soldiers during the first Gulf War. After his retirement from the Army, he helped to establish consistent quality assurance procedures for the clean up of unexploded ordinance sites. He enjoyed good wine, carpentry, cooking, scuba diving, and gardening.
Mr. Lantzer is survived by his wife, Laura E. Wrench of Scottsdale, AZ; three sons, Jason Lantzer and his fiancée, June Morrissette, of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeremy Lantzer and his wife, Shuk Mei, of Scottsdale, AZ, and Skyler Lantzer-Wrench of Aberdeen, MD; step-daughter, Erin Caldwell of Denver, CO; three brothers, Mike Lantzer of Buffalo, WY, Marty Lantzer of Kimball, NE, and Tony Lantzer of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Pamela Lantzer of Lincoln, NE and Jackie Fosler of Bennett, NE; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Carroll Lantzer.
