Norman Walter Bartlett, age 86, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on January 15, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Geckle) Bartlett and husband to Sandra (Erickson) Bartlett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Norman worked for Bethlehem Steel where he worked at the Plate Mill Mechanical. He also had his own pump repair business and went on to pursue his true passion of obtaining his Captain’s license and was a Saltwater Fly Fishing Guide all over Maryland and on the Chesapeake Bay. He loved fishing and he and Sandra would travel to Islamorada, Florida in the wintertime to fish. Norman held many fishing world records over his lifetime. Norman also taught a rigging course and Dundalk Community College. He researched and fought to try to help save the bay from pollution. He also wrote fishing articles and made and patented a Fly-Fishing Trainer along with creating, making, and patenting a Bounce Bowl for a camera. Norman was a wonderful, caring person to be around, and he drew a crowd when he talked and told of his life and fishing stories. So many people from all over loved and admired Norman. He loved his family and spending time with Sandra, his daughter, Donna and his grandchildren, Joseph, Amanda and Luke. Norman was an extremely hard worker and taught his daughter the value of working hard. He would do anything for anyone who needed help.
In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his daughter, Donna Valerie Cliffe (Michael Cliffe, Jr.); sisters, Mary Bartlett Wyatt and Shirley Hill; grandchildren, Joseph Cliffe, Amanda Cliffe, and Luke Cliffe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Stephens Catholic Church in memory of Norman W. Bartlett.
