Ned Sayre, 53, of Churchville, MD, passed away on February 21, 2015 at his beloved, Waffle Hill Farm in Churchville, Maryland. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of Lawrason Riggs Sayre and the late Jane Herman Sayre. A lifelong resident of Harford County, Ned attended Harford Day School (class of 1975) and was a 1979 graduate of John Carroll High School. He was a Hokie through and through, graduating from Virginia Tech in 1983 with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. Ned was the owner and operator of Waffle Hill Farm, LLC and a partner in Deer Creek Beef, LLC.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Walker Sayre, their beloved children Chris Bergmann of Coeur d' Alene, ID, Carly Bergmann and her significant other, Scott Cushing Jr. of Jarrettsville; brother, Lawrason Riggs Sayre Jr. and wife, Betsy, of Churchville; sisters, Nancy Ann Sayre and husband, Michael McGuirk, of Bel Air and Sally Carnohan and husband, Don, of Churchville. Ned is survived by his beloved nieces and nephews; Zach, Michael, Annie, Tyler, and Margaret. In addition he leaves behind a multitude of friends who are considered family; Virginia Tech, AGR Fraternity, and the Communities of Darlington and Churchville.

In addition to his occupation as a Beef Producer, Ned was an Agricultural Preservation Specialist for Harford County Government and recently became EAGALA certified as an equine specialist for Stable Options, LLC. Moreover he was involved at a national and local level with several organizations including: LEAD Maryland (Class I Fellow), National Cattlemens Beef Association (Environmental Stewardship Award Program Committee Chair), Maryland Cattlemen's Association (Board Member President), American Farm Bureau Federation (Beef Committee Chair), Maryland Farm Bureau(Board Member), Harford County Farm Bureau (FormerPresident), and Maryland Angus Association (Board Member, Secretary / Treasurer). In addition Ned and his father Lawrason Riggs Sayre were named Chesapeake Bay Foundation Conservationists of the year in 2006. He was loved by many and will be missed!
