Master Sergeant Raymond O. Huff was born April 29, 1928 in Hamilton, OH. He died on August 15, 2010 at the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Havre de Grace, MD. He was 82. He attended Hamilton Elementary School and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1946, with a football scholarship to attend the University of Cincinnati.
In January 1949, MSG Huff enlisted in the U.S. Army. When the Korean Conflict began in 1950, he was transferred to 43rd Chemical Lab, Camp Ojima, Japan, for a 3-year tour of duty. During this period (1950-1953), he was frequently flown to and from South Korea on various missions.
In September 1953, MSG Huff returned stateside to the Army Chemical Center in Maryland. While on furlough in Hamilton, OH, he renewed his acquaintance with his now wife, Dolores. They were married in April 1954.
MSG Huff's other tours of duty were the Crime Lab in Germany (1955-1959), the Biological Lab in Maryland (1959-1964), the USA Medical Research Lab in Kentucky (1964-1964), and the 275th Chemical Lab in Germany (1964-1967).
MSG Huff retired from service at the U.S. Army Environmental Hygiene Agency, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, in February 1969.
In September of 1969, Mr. Huff began his second career as an Engineering Technician and as a Physical Science Technician with the Department of the Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He retired in December 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores (nee Del Favero); two sisters, Dorothy Lee and husband, Fred, of Land of Lakes, FL, and Irene Robbins and husband, Carl, of Hamilton, OH; two brothers, Richard Huff of Hamilton, OH, and Ronald Huff and wife, Sharon, of Branson, MO. He was preceded in death by sisters, Audrey Chambers and husband, Gordon, Imogene Bartel and husband, Walter, and Velma Helton and husband, Hobert; and by brothers, Charles and wife, Edith, Robert (Buster), James (JC) and wife, Peggy, and William Huff, all of Hamilton, OH.
