MSG Edward A. Scott, age 79, of Bad Nauheim, Germany passed away on August 11th, 2024, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. Born in Compton, CA he was the son of the late Johnny and Lillian Turner-Scott and the beloved husband of the late Joan Scott who, was the love of his life, and with whom he shared 30 years of blissful marriage.

Edward was a dedicated veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor for 27 years. During his distinguished military career, he served thirty-three months in Vietnam as an Infantry Solider, earning a Bronze Star for Valor for his heroic actions in saving his squadron, as well as, earning two Purple Hearts during his three tours. During his career he was Airborne Ranger, reflecting his commitment and skill. In addition to active-duty service, he also spent time as the ROTC Instructor at the University of Tennessee, where he inspired and mentored young cadets. After retirement his impact expanded to DODD youth. He was an ROTC instructor at the then Frankfurt American High School for several years. During his time there he was also the coach of the Rifle and Drill Teams that won several European Championships. After the closing of Frankfurt American High School, he went on to and then serve as the Director of Youth Services in Butzbach Germany.

Edward had a deep love for sports (particularly Football and Basketball) and politics. He had a fascination with unique and eclectic sports cars and was a true car enthusiast being particularly fond of old Camaros. Above all, Edward was a devoted family who cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, treasuring every moment with his loved ones.

Edward is survived by his son, Mario (Safiyyah) Scott; son, Kamau “Kam” Scott; daughter, Star Scott, grandson, Javel Gramling; granddaughter Sakai Scott; great granddaughter, Aubree Gramling; brother James Scott; and two sisters, Mary Scott, and Lillian Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Mary Magdelene Turner, who played a significant role in raising him.
