Mildred S. Thomas

MILDRED S. THOMAS, age 87, of Bel Air, MD, died on February 1, 2008 at Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation in Bel Air, MD. Born in Rocks, MD, she was the daughter of the late Allen Hoffman and Virginia Taylor St. Clair. A lifelong resident of Harford County, she was very proud of her direct lineage on her mother's side to the Jarrett family, the founding family of Jarrettsville. She was a graduate of Highland High School and was an active member of the Highland Alumni Association, as well as, the Democratic Women's Club where she was treasurer. A community volunteer, she was an active member for the Pennsylvania and Maryland Christmas Tree Association for 30 years and was Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #808, of who she still kept in contact with. She had worked for the former Kelly Credit Collection Agency in Bel Air where she was a secretary and had sung in the choir for Western Maryland College in Westminster. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air and travelled extensively with her husband, visiting all 50 states except New Mexico. She was very thoughtful about everyone's health and never forgot a birthday. She kept in contact with her grandchildren on a regular basis just to see how they were doing.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband of 61 years, James A. Thomas of Bel Air, MD; a son, Gary Thomas of Millersville, PA; a brother, Charles W. St. Clair of Jarrettsville, MD; and three grandchildren, Matthew T. Thomas, Mitchell L. Thomas, and Megan E. Thomas, all of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Allen D. Thomas in August of 2002.
