Mildred Lee Payne

Mildred Lee (Hill) Payne, 89, wife of the late Edgar W. Payne, passed away at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Born in Fries, VA, on September 23, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Miller Hill and Minnie Lee (Williams) Hill.

Formerly a resident of Fries, VA and Harford County, MD, Mrs. Payne lived with her daughter in Conowingo, MD for the past six years. She had owned and operated, along with her husband, the family grocery store in Hickory, Payne's General Merchandise. She was loved by everyone that she knew.

She is survived by three sons, Joe Payne, Harrison Payne, and Mike Payne; one daughter, Martha Joines; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
