Mildred E. Newsom

MILDRED E. NEWSOM, age 61, of Edgewood, died in Harford Memorial Hospital on September 20, 2004. Born in Jackson, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Harold J. and Mildred Cotton Wall. An avid reader, she was a Girl Scout Leader and Cookie Mom. She was the past treasurer of the Willoughby Woods Homeowners Association. She was an active committee member of the Boy Scouts Troop #369. Mr. and Mrs. Newsom were awarded the Kendal Award for Scouting Family of the Year in 1994. She was active with the P.T.A. and volunteered at the Joppatowne Tot Fun Center. She helped to found the Sharing Table, a soup kitchen in Edgewood.

Mrs. Newsom is survived by her husband of 39 years, H. Gary Newsom; one son, Gary Warren Newsom of Edgewood; one daughter, Laura Aline Newsom of Edgewood; one brother, Harry Wall of Detroit, Michigan; and one sister, Laura Simpson of Rehobeth Beach, Delaware. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Donald Wall.
