October 9, 1954 — March 30, 2024
Michael T. Spear, age 69, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away on March 30, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Stephen and Anna “Amy” (Heil) Spear and husband of 43 years to Linda (Powers) Spear.
In addition to many other jobs, Michael dedicated 25 years of his life to the Social Security Administration before retiring. He had a passion for freshwater fishing and hunting, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. Deep Creek Lake held a special place in his heart, where he often found tranquility amidst nature's beauty.
Beyond his professional endeavors and outdoor pursuits, Michael was an avid collector. He amassed a collection of coins and military memorabilia from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, including various types of artillery shells. His love for history and appreciation for the sacrifices of those who served were evident in his collection. Michael also had an extensive train garden which consumed the basement, almost year-round.
Michael had a fondness for 70s classic rock, finding joy in the timeless melodies of that era. His love for music was a reflection of his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his daughters, Laura Spear, and Lisa (Patrick) Spear-Clampitt. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Seaman and Lea Porter, and brother, Stephen T. Spear III.
