Michael Eugene Rose

October 17, 1941 — July 27, 2024

Michael Eugene Rose, age 82, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away very unexpectedly on July 27, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. He was surrounded by family at his side and will be profoundly missed by all who loved, respected and admired him.

Born in Darlington, Maryland, he was the adoring son of the late James and Anne (Tolley) Rose and the beloved and intensely devoted husband of 63 years to Judith (Connor) Rose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dearly missed sister, Patricia Ann Morrison.

Mike is also survived by his loving and devoted family; daughters, Ellen Renee Poling-Wright (Joseph Wright) and Julie Kathleen Rose; granddaughters, Tiffany Poling and Ashley Rose Dawson (Evan Smith); grandsons, Donnie Poling III (Jessica Godfrey) and Zachary Connor Dawson (Alexis Sands); and two adorable great-granddaughters, Penelope and Skyler. He is also survived by his cherished siblings: David Rose (Marlene Rose) and Betty Ann Eller (Chris Lloyd). He will always remain in our hearts.

Mike was a great mentor and ingenious skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking projects, making beautiful solid wood coffee tables and doors with family members, working on electrical and plumbing projects. He also liked working on cars and keeping up with the latest technology. Since retiring from APG, Mike became in demand helping family, friends and neighbors. He was always available to lend a hand or give advice for their projects. He appreciated being outdoors and loved walking, crabbing, fishing, hunting, plane and bird watching. He also enjoyed mowing and doing yard work, even for others when he saw a need. Mike was a fierce protector of his family, friends and neighbors. He looked out for others and would ask if he could help in any way. He was a carefree soul. He was always joking and finding humor in everything. He loved the expression “Let the good times roll” and embraced his life with that mindset. One of his favorite silly catch phrases when anyone asked how he was doing was “I was ok, but I got over it”. He loved to reminiscence with friends and family so we will certainly carry on that tradition. We will always honor him and appreciate all the love, devotion, respect and admiration he showed us. He is absolutely irreplaceable, and we thank him so much for all he gave during his lifetime. We know he will always continue to guide us and be our guardian forever.

We appreciate the incredible outpouring of condolences and expressions of love for Mike. He would truly be humbled.

Contributions in honor of Mike may be made to your favorite charity (in lieu of flowers).

Private arrangements with family will be made.
