Michael Lee Goodson

April 15, 1960 — August 2, 2011

MICHAEL LEE GOODSON, "GOODY", age 51, of Frederick, MD, died on August 2, 2011 at his home from a medical complication. He was born in Alexandria, VA and was the son of the late Howard Raymond Goodson of Moore, OK, and is survived by his mother, Thelma Frances Goodson of Bel Air, MD. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 25 years as an Air Traffic Control Specialist; 5 years at the Houston ARTCC and 20 years at the Washington ARTCC. He worked on several airspace redesign projects and served as a temporary supervisor. Since his retirement, Michael enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

Michael had two older sisters; he is predeceased by Patricia Whipp of Lawton, OK, and is survived by Lynn Cook of Abingdon, MD. He was predeceased by his step mother, Barbara Goodson of Moore, OK, and has five step sisters; Robin Hurmence of Fayetteville, NC, Michelle Kilpatrick of League City, TX, Carla Foley of Moore, OK, Barbara Batista of Allen, TX, and Rebecca Cullins of Moore, OK.

Michael graduated from the Bel Air High School in 1978 and attended the Harford Community College. He was a past member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as a firefighter and paramedic. He was a current member of the VFW, Loyal Order of Moose and the Elks Lodge of Frederick, MD. Michael was a charter member of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA). He was a member of the North American Fishing Club and the North American Hunting Club.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department, 109 S. Hickory Ave. Bel Air, MD 21014, in Michael's honor.
