MICHAEL K. SANGER, age 55, of Street, died on November 24, 2005 at his home. Born in Staunton, VA to Walter Calvin Sanger and Mildred Marie Brinkley Sanger of Richmond , VA. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Staunton, VA. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, VA in 1968. While attending high school, he was a member of the varsity football team and also ran track. Upon graduating from high school, Mike attended the University of Tennessee before he was drafted into the United States Army. He served 10 years in the Military Police of the US Army during the Vietnam War, and then joined the Special Forces. After his time in the service, he attended the University of Maryland where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in business. He was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Mike worked as a stock broker for Merrill Lynch before putting himself through law school. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1985 before becoming an Assistant State’s Attorney for Harford County, a position from which he retired after 18 years. Upon completion of law school, Mike was a member of MENSA, and the American Bar Association.
He enjoyed the outdoors, including bow hunting, fishing and gardening, and playing golf. He had a love for animals and was an avid horseman. Mike loved to listen to Neil Diamond and The Statler Brothers. He enjoyed playing and reading with his granddaughter. His dedication to his family and his selflessness towards his friends made him a truly incredible man.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanger is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betsy Sanger of Street; two daughters, Tracy Sanger-Levy, and her husband, Andy Levy of Bel Air, and Linda Sanger of Street; one sister, Sandy Moore of Chesterfield, VA; one brother-in-law, Michael Moore of Chesterfield, VA; one nephew, Chris Moore of Chesterfield, VA; one grandmother, Elsie Brinkley of Roanoke, VA; one granddaughter, Courtney Levy of Bel Air; a mother-in-law, Rosalinde Hall of Glen Burnie; and a close friend of the family, Charles E. Carter of Glen Burnie.
Contributions may be made to an educational fund for his granddaughter that will be established at the APG Federal Credit Union.
