Michael John Whalen

Michael John Whalen, age 66, of Charlestown, MD, died on April 12, 2009 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD. Born in Ottumwa, IA, he was the son of the late John Francis and Marion Ruth O'Meara Whalen. A veteran of the U.S. Army, from which he retired, he served our country during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Veteran's Administration at Perry Point for 15 years. An avid photographer, he collected antique cameras and enjoyed motorcycles, traveling, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed boating and spending time on the water and was proud of his Irish heritage.

Mr. Whalen is survived by his daughter, Meaghan O. Whalen of Bel Air, MD; brother, Patrick Whalen of Kansas; sister, Mary K. Whalen of Washington, IL; and his special friend, his lab retriever, Honey Brown.
