MICHAEL JOHN KOZUB, age 78, of Chestertown, MD, formerly of Abingdon, MD, died on June 14, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Cecelia Stec Kozub. A veteran of the U.S. Marines, he served our country during the Korean War. He worked at Martin Marietta in metallurgy, where he introduced the idea and design, for the Snap Generator that is used to power the rockets for space exploration today. He declined the transfer out west with the Space and Aeronautics Division, so that he could continue help managing the family farm where he also had a butcher shop and did custom butchering. He worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground in the area of calibration. He enjoyed dealing in the stock market and land acquisition. He was a nature lover and his hobbies included boating and traveling. A past member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a current member of the VFW and the Bush River Yacht Club.
Mr. Kozub is survived by his wife, Mary Caron Kozub of Chestertown, MD; a sister, Marie Herold of Abingdon, MD; a niece, June Marie Cantwell of Mendham, NJ, and a nephew, George Michael Herold of Mason City, IL. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Kozub.
