Melvin J. Ewing, of Edgewood, MD, passed at the age of 91 on October 13, 2016 at his home with his wife and family by his side. He was born in Emmorton, MD to Melburn Filmore and Edna Mae (Baker) Ewing. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked as a Librarian Technician for the government. He was a member of the Abingdon V.F.W. and Emmorton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Norma L. Ewing; his son Ronald J. Ewing (Janet) of Perry Hall; his daughter, Deborah S. Petrusch of Edgewood; his son Arthur D. Ewing (Lisa) of Riverside; his daughter Pamela G. German (Doug) of Castlebury, Florida; brothers, David L. Ewing (Betty) of Joppa, Curtis R. Ewing (Virginia) of Aberdeen and Thomas W. Ewing of Edgewood; sister, Helen Koryto (John) of Joppa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gerry Hardy of Havre de Grace; and brother-in-law, Russell G. Faine of Cambridge. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, George Petrusch.
Pallbearers were Roger Ewing, Thomas W. Ewing, Doug German, William R. Griffin, David S. Petrusch, Zachary R. Dietz, Chris Merk and Jason Ewing.
