MELVIN G. QUICK, age 78, of Joppa, MD, died on June 16, 2007 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Melvin George Quick Sr. and the late Lillian Elizabeth Kerr Quick. He lived all of his life on Old Joppa Road and he loved to talk about the history of the area, where he made his living as a contractor. He owned and operated Quick Excavating, retiring after 40 years. He took great pride in being a father and grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed photography and was never seen without his camera. A member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, he enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, and raising flowers.
Mr. Quick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eva L. Wood Quick, of Joppa, MD; a daughter, Sherrie M. Kellagher and her husband, Brian, of Havre de Grace, MD; a stepdaughter, Linda Sheeler of Cambridge, MD; a brother, Stephen E. Quick and his wife, Sue, of Forest Hill, MD; four grandchildren, Lauren N. Kellagher, Brendan R. Kellagher, Daniel P. Kellagher, and Nicholas A. Kellagher, all of Havre de Grace, MD; and four step-grandchildren, Dawn Sheeler, Becky Sheeler, Robert Sheeler, and Jessica Sheeler, all of Cambridge, MD.
In addition to his parents Mr. Quick was predeceased by a stepson, Robert A. Mathews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Kellagher, Brendan Kellagher, Daniel Kellagher, and Lauren Kellagher, Charles Wheeler and Robert Zeback.
