Mel Williams, age 67, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on March 7, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the wife to Gregory Williams for 45 years and the daughter of Salvatore Anthony and Malvina Elizabeth (Valenti) Curreri. In addition to her husband, Mel is survived by her daughter, Kristy (Shane) Dougherty; son, Michael Williams; five granddaughters, Addison, Sydney, Cassidy, and Bailey Dougherty, and Chloe Williams; three sisters, Angelina (Joseph) Marshall, Emilia (Alfred) Petersam, and Joanne (Raymond) Kiersarsky; sister-in-law, Karen (Michael) Stevens; in addition to many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Mel was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bradshaw. She retired in 2007 from CRS Flooring, where she worked as a salesperson in commercial flooring for 10+ years as one of their Top Salespeople. She and her sisters played Pinochle online every night. She also enjoyed watching musicals, old TV shows, and RV camping with the family. Mel was the biggest cheerleader for the Lunar Viper Allstars Cheerleading Organization where her daughter, Kristy, coaches and her granddaughters cheer. Mel was the one in the stands yelling the loudest, saving all the seats, and providing motivation and food for all the girls, coaches and families involved. Mel was selfless, hardworking, and always put everyone’s needs before her own. She was truly loved by all who knew her.
