MATILDA M. BOLANDER, of Abingdon, MD, formerly of Dundalk, died on February 18, 2005 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center from congestive heart failure. Her daughter, MaryLee was by her side.
Born on March 23, 1918 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Wasyl and Mary Moroz, who immigrated from the Ukraine in 1916. She grew up in Canton and moved to Dundalk in 1949.
Mrs. Bolander was predeceased by her husband of nearly 47 years, Gerald L. Bolander, who died in 1993. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Catherine Moroz Strychaecz, Michael Moroz, Walter Moroz, Frank Moroz, Anna Moroz Marsh, and her niece, Paula Lynn Marsh.
Mrs. Bolander had worked at Continental Can prior to the birth of her daughter, but had been a homemaker since moving to Dundalk with her husband. Since 2001, she had lived in Abingdon. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching classic movies on TV. Her many skills included making pierogis and kielbasa.
In addition to her daughter, MaryLee A. Stritch, she is survived by her son-in-law, Arthur J. Stritch, III; two granddaughters, Sara E. Stritch and Erin L. Stritch, all of Abingdon; a nephew, Earl M. March, Jr.; and a grand niece, Katrina Marsh, whom she treated like a grandchild; and one brother, William Moroz.
