Mathew Ernst Ryan

MATHEW ERNST RYAN, age 38, of Port Deposit, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on Dec. 21, 2004. Born in Bellevue, Washington, he was the son of Norma Jean Friese Ryan of Bel Air and the late William Howard Ryan. He loved and was devoted to his family, and told anyone who would listen that his daughter, 8-year-old Heather Rhianne Ryan, was the love of his life. A resident of Port Deposit for seven years, he worked as a security guard for the Federal Government. He served his country in the Army as a combat engineer during the end of the Cold War. He participated in the Adrian Empire medieval recreation society, was an excellent woodworker and was proficient at making suits of chain mail armor like those worn during medieval times. He enjoyed archery and loved to sail his Dad’s boat. Matt was also an excellent photographer.

In addition to his mother and daughter, Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife of 10 years, Kelly Patricia Hickey Ryan and two brothers, Michael Ryan of Bel Air and Mark Ryan of Whiteford.
