Mary Virginia Heaps

MARY VIRGINIA HEAPS, age 89, of Forest Hill, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on December 11, 2003. Born in Culpepper, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Basye and Bertie Virginia Barret Read, and the wife for 50 years of the late John Francis Heaps. She had retired from Edgewood Arsenal where she worked as a procurement supervisor. She was a member of Harford Christian Church. She was an avid gardener who loved growing award winning flowers, especially dahlias. After she retired she moved to Florida with her husband. They enjoyed traveling. She moved back to Harford County in the early 1980’s.

Mrs. Heaps is survived by one brother, Basye Read of Havre de Grace; two sisters, Emily LaCagnin of Alpharetta, Georgia; Mildred Blevins of Forest Hill; one granddaughter, Carol Tracey of Baltimore; three step-grandsons, John Heaps of Delta, Pennsylvania; Jeffrey Heaps of Colora, MD; Joseph Heaps of Street; one great-grandson, Nicholas Troyer of Baltimore; and one great-great-granddaughter, Gabriel Troyer of Baltimore. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Virginia Pomranning and one step-son, Orion Heaps.

Pallbearers were: John Heaps, Jeff Heaps, Joe Heaps, Carl Blevins, Christopher Blevins, and Patrick Blevins.
