MARY RIDGELY POE LANG, age 91, of Edgewood, died at Mariner Health of Bel Air on October 13, 2005. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William Charles and Mary Hodges Ridgely Poe and the wife of the late William “Bill” I. Lang. She was a member of Maryland Conservation Council, Harford County, Committee to Preserve Assateague Island, Harford County League of Women Voters, Harford County Chapter of the Garden Club of America, Harford County Democratic Club. She taught nursery school in Baltimore during the depression. She was an avid swimmer and had swum across the Chesapeake Bay. She was active in preserving the Bush River watershed. She enjoyed her life on the water. She was an avid canoer and enjoyed raising flowers and taking care of her yard.
Mrs. Lang is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth L. Green of Burlington, West Virginia and Mary “Posie” Thompson of Edgewood; and five grandchildren, Joseph E. Thompson of Morgantown, West Virginia, Augusta A. Thompson of Edgewood, Corinna F. Green of Burlington, West Virginia, Sadie S. Green of Burlington, West Virginia, and Shenandoah L. Green of Burlington, West Virginia.
Pallbearers will be: John W. Thompson, Geoffrey Green, Richard Owens, Douglas MacClean, James H. Ridgely, Isaac Lang, and Joseph E. Thompson.
