MARY OPAL HOUCK, age 82, of Bel Air, died at her home on October 5, 2003. Born in Todd, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Minnie Wilcox Gentry and the wife of the late Dwight L. Houck. Retiring in 1976 as the Food Service Coordinator, she had worked in food services for 25 years with the Harford County Public Schools. A 60 year resident of Harford County, she was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the Keen Agers group. She enjoyed visiting people in various nursing homes and reading the Bible. She was a great encourager to others. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Houck is survived by two sons, Douglas L. and his wife Peggy Houck of Bel Air; John C. and his wife, Lynne Houck of Bel Air; two brothers, Thomas L. Gentry of Churchville; Ambrose A. Gentry of Todd, North Carolina; one sister, Virginia D. Lemly of Bel Air; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Perry B. Gentry and S. Weaver Gentry, and two sisters, C. Wavie Gentry and Ella V. Hudler.
