Mary Merrick Bliss

Mary Merrick Bliss, age 87, of Bel Air, MD, died on June 16, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Scotia, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. and Katherine Walker Merrick, and wife, for 57 years, of the late John Franklin Bliss. A resident of Bel Air for 36 years, she was named a Harford County Living Treasure in 2008. She was a long term volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank at Bel Air United Methodist Church, and Fallston General Hospital. She was also a member of the Harford Artist Association where she enjoyed oil painting and stained glass, and she sang for many years in the Bel Air United Methodist Church choir.

Mrs. Bliss is survived by her sons, John C. Bliss of Cookeville, TN, Jeffrey M. Bliss of Reidsville, NC, Christopher L. Bliss of Baltimore, MD, and Timothy W. Bliss of Towson, MD; daughter, Katherine Bliss of Ellicott City, MD; sisters, Alice and Ruth Baugh of WA; five grandchildren, Donna LaPuma, Chris LaPuma, Susan Bliss DeNicholas, all of NY, and Brandon and Mary Amanda Bliss, both of NC.
